Friday is here!

Just a quick entry to say hi and let you know what’s been happening this week.

Firstly, I hope you have been checking progress on ‘Lock Shop’ on the ‘New Work’ page. It’s almost completed there!

Besides that I have been struggling with a large painting I am working on. I have spent many hours carefully working on the composition and transferring it to canvas. Thought it wasn’t right and I needed to start again. Oh noooooo!!! But I shelved it for a week and came back to it last night. And you know what?… I don’t know what I was thinking. Looks great. That will be posted online in the next few weeks. It’s a biggie and its pretty complex. Exciting!

Besides that, I made it down to Ashburton this week to submit my paintings for their annual winter exhibition. We all know the drama the last time I submitted work. Yep… rejected as the paintings were too large. Not this time! I must have checked the canvas 20 times! Anyway… this year I have 2 large works and 3 miniatures submitted.

I have never done a miniature before. So that was an interesting challenge. I am so used to working on a much larger scale that I found it quite bizarre painting to such a small scale. Having said that, I really did enjoy the change of size. Who knows… I may just do a few more!

We are heading down to opening night for the exhibition. So I am looking forward to that. Right… back to work now. Catch you next time!
