Earthquake!

Well its been just over aweek since the big quake here… and life is returning to normal (well sort of).

Buses are running; businesses are open and most of the CDB is up and running. Aftershocks still happen daily but they are generally farther apart which is good.

As you may know, I am embarking on a ‘building series’. This is centred around subject matter I have gathered over the last 6 months. Now many of those buildings are severely damaged or about to be demolished. That makes my heart sink to lose so many fantastic buildings here. New Zealand is a relatively new country compared to others (such as European countries). So a loss of many of these older buildings is a real loss for Christchurch.

I have been passing by ‘The Lock Shop’. You may remenber this building which I painted a couple of monts ago. Well, believe it or not… Its still standing! For how long I don’t know. It is fenced off and marked as unsafe. It may be another building marked for demolision. I will keep you posted on that one.

Until the next update… Keep safe Christchurch!… and take care to all those who read this blog.
