Earthquake – The Lock Shop… What happened?
Remember this post on the main page?
EARTHQUAKE : It was time to change this image… but I just couldn’t… not yet. I know the image has been sitting here a while now. But after the 7.1 earthquake we experienced here I just cant let this image go. It is titled: ‘The Lock Shop’, from a new series (BUILDINGS) I have been developing for the last few months. I have the subject matter sitting there with a number of paintings planned.
This building is still standing (for now). However it has been fenced off and is now pretty fragile. It may be coming down. That is sad. Sad also are the other buildings from this series I have revisited. Many have suffered severe earthquake damage and will be demolished! I will be watching ’The Lockshop’ carefully over the coming days/weeks to see if it is spared or not. I will let you know what happens.
Want to know what happened to it?
Well… it’s now gone! With a heavy heart, I was saddened to see it gone. The bulldozers have been in and all there is now is an empty site. Nothing at all remains.
I had become connected to the building thru painting it. So I went out there and captured the empty site regardless. I may post a quick sketch of it later.
